Deflating to say the least. However, to listen to some of the post game interviews, were the American's victim of "phantom calls" that gave the host country their win? Two calls were mentioned as being a possibility, but could there have been more?

If you haven't even seen the game, this kind of speculation is worthless.

In the entire match only one penalty was called. Sure, more could have been called, but the American's were certainly not the victim in this, they got away with several trippings and holdings that would have been called by other refs.

Nah, I don't want to say that. I feel bad posting this shat it's just tiring to the point where you don't even want to correct her anymore. I don't think she has a handle on how well informed most hockey fans are? I mean the occasional mishap would be fine but it's usually two or more per blog. If you didn't watch it or just don't have a clue well then don't write about it, it's that easy. She hasn't caught on yet.

Very true, if ya didn't watch it, then exactly as you say, don't write about it. Also her assumption that we really give more than 2 poops about the IIHF worlds up here is pretty far off. Dont get me wrong, due to a sense of national pride we are pulling for our national team to do well. But the tournament is being held during the playoffs, which is far better hockey, as well its held in Europe, which makes watching them rather difficult. On the bright side for oilers and islanders fans, the worlds gives players from our respective teams a chance to get some additional experience. Hopefully its not a trend that continues too long and we cant send players over cause our teams are still playing this time of year.

That would be nice but most of us don't have hopes for next year. I get why she writes about the worlds even though most don't care. There just isn't much to write about. If she wrote about the Devils and Rangers we'd blast her for that even more . It's that she writes about games she hasn't even watched or material she knows nothing about. That's where she loses her credibility. You guys are going to be sitting pretty with Yakupov, he seems to be quite the player. If Tambelini gets your D shored up you're going to have some team. Loved watching RNH a few times last year, he's got some talent!

Yeah we do need some D in a worse way than a crack addict needs a hit. That being said, lots of Good D prospects in the waiting, just a matter of if they turn out or not, good thing is they are some big bodies. Need dubey to really break out this year as well. Your isles are looking pretty as well, minus of course the goaltending situation. Tavares is an absolute stud and what can ya say about Moulson. Couldn't get a break with the kings, then signs a one year deal with the Islanders and bam, 3 consecutive 30+ goal seasons. Hows that for finding a prize at the bottom of a cereal box.
Do you guys have any prospects in net up and coming?

Anyway it is a beautiful Spring day in New York Tempatures should reach close to 70 today mostly sunny. Saturday beautiful again with the same result some passing clouds towards the afternoon. I need a life

Actually we do. Poulin may get a back up role behind Nabakov and may push for more and Nilson looks good but probably needs a little more time in the AHL? Strome but most think he won't be ready next year, Cizikas should be a regular as well as Ulstrom. Depends on what kind of off season we have? Wondering whats going to happen at the draft and July 1st? PA getting signed(or not)is kind of imperative at this point. We'll probably have a hard time filling that void if we can't get him signed.

Guessing it was the whole cloak and dagger way the developer is remaining unnamed? I don't know if that's the norm or not but it is interesting?

He is gone friend, that is why the Islanders are trying to get the first pick. No way he resigns not now. Some tema will offer him ridiculous money he will jump ship and do nothing. I mean they can always replace him with your buddy that fat Asian kid?

Yeah, we would have to pay some one to hang a bag of doritos in front of his face and he'd probably beat Grabners speed record? I also don't see us signing PA. Where'd you hear we were going after the first pick? I'd love to see that but don't see it happening either.

I have never been to NY and i live in a small town of about 80,000 in Southern Alberta so i gotta ask what the Coliseum is like? Is it a pretty run down building in a bad location? Attendance for the Islanders has been pretty bad, is it the rink or are fans just not paying to see a team that has been playing poorly? I gotta think they have some young talent so would be an exciting product to watch on ice.

That was the area they were talking about building a new Arena for the islanders. It is basically a bad thing for the Isles. The Barclays arena is not a long term option... go to the game on October 2nd and you will see for yourself.

The location is not a problem. The arena and the team is the reason for the poor attendance.

Thats unfortunate, the arena in edmonton is old, its kind of in a sketchy area, we know the team sucks, yet sell out every home game. What are ticket prices like for an islanders game?

I don't think it's so much location but public transportation is pretty much nonexistent for the area. As we saw in the eighties it's the team. If they put a consistent, winning team on the ice you wouldn't be able to get a ticket to an Islander game. The arena is in horrible condition but I as many could give a rats ass, if they tried to ice a competitive team we'd all pay to see them and pay big money to do it!
